  • What is Real-time or On-line scanning?

    Protector Plus will scan all files that are accessed in your computer. This process is instantaneous. On-line scanning is also refered to as 'Real-time scanning'.

  • How do I enable the Real-time or On-line scanning?

    Real-time scanning is enabled by default, when you install Protector Plus. There is a provision to disable it, if necessary.

    Real-time scanning is active from the moment the computer is switched on. It works in the background, and is non-intrusive. It kicks in only when it finds a virus in the computer. The Real-time scanner can be configured to automatically take corrective action. It is recommended that you always enable the Real-time scanner.

    However if real-time scan in your computer is disabled and you want to enable it you can follow the below-mentioned instructions.

    1. Right click on Protector Plus icon "" in your taskbar.

    2. Click on Enable Real-time scan.

  • On virus detection no other options are highlighted except Ignore and Help. How to remove the virus?

    When Protector Plus detects any virus in a compressed file or in a mailbox, the options displayed are Ignore and Help. In this case it is advisable to delete the complete file or the particular mail along with the attachment.

  • Protector Plus is detecting same virus even after cleaning it with Protector Plus. What do I do now?

    In this case there are two possibilities.

    1. The System Restore option might be enabled in your system. You have to disable this and scan again with Protector Plus to remove the virus completely.

    To disable System Restore under Windows Me follow the given steps.

    Right-click the My Computer icon on the Desktop and click Properties.
    Click the Performance tab.
    Click the File System button under Advanced settings.
    Click the Troubleshooting tab.
    Select/Enable Disable System Restore check box.
    Then click OK button.

    To disable System Restore under Windows XP follow the given steps.

    Log on as Administrator.
    Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop and click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Select Turn off System Restore.
    Click OK button.

    2. You might have not applied the vulnerability patch issued from Microsoft. Please write to us with the details of the virus. We will guide you to the patch location.

  • What is Suspicious files quarantine?

    Suspicious files are those which are suspected as infected files. These files are detected by the Protector Plus Email scanner as well as Real-time scanner. Once detected as suspicious it is treated as suspicious category to stop further spreading.

    Suspect files can be sent to our Virus Analysis Lab for analysis. Follow the procedure mentioned below to send these suspected samples.

    1. Whenever Protector Plus Real-time scanner detects a suspected sample the following screen will be displayed.



    Click Yes to submit the sample.

    2. Whenever Protector Plus Email scanner detectd a suspected sample the following screen will be displayed.



    Click Yes to submit the sample.

  • How do I scan my computer Manually using Protector Plus?

    If you want to scan a particular file for virus you can right click on the file and in the drop down menu you can click on Scan with Protector Plus option (the same thing applies to scan any folder or drive).

    If you want to scan your computer completely for virus then.

    1. Open Protector Plus.
    2. In the left pane of the window click Scan button.
    3. Double click Scan hard disks option.

  • I want to send an infected file to Proland Software for analysis. How can I send it?

    You can submit the sample in two ways.

    1. You can mail the sample to virsample@pspl.com.
