VBS/Loveletter Worm

 Information about the VBS/Loveletter worm:

VBS/Loveletter is an email worm that is created using the VBScript. VBS/Loveletter will infect Windows 98 and Windows 2000 systems. Windows 95 and Windows NT users also can be affected if the Visual Basic scripting is enabled.

The worm comes through an email attachment with the message having the title 'I LOVE YOU'. The attachment has the title LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs. By default, the .vbs extension is not visible under Windows. Therefore most unsuspecting users see the attachment as only a text message and open it. Opening this attachment launches the worm, which then sends a message with the attachment to everyone in the address book. The worm works with Microsoft Outlook.

The content of the message is as follows.

From: Name of the infected user

To: Addressee picked from the address book of the infected user

Subject: ILOVEYOU

kindly check the attached LOVELETTER coming from me.

Attachment: LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs
