W32/Sunclove.A Worm

 Information about the W32/Sunclove.A Worm:

W32/Sunclove.A is a mass mailing worm. The worm will infect Windows systems and spreads through email.

The subject of the infected mail will be any one of the following;

Read my letter for you
Love for forgiveness:->

The body of the infected email will be any one of the following;

this was created from the deep inside my heart.
I love you, please forgive me.

The infected email carries the following infected attachment;

Loveletter.doc.exe

Upon execution of the infected attachment the worm copies itself as the following;

Loveletter.doc.exe in the Windows folder.
dllhost.dll and loader32.com in the Windows System folder.
winlogon.exe in the root of Windows installed drive.

The worm modifies registry at the following location to load itself during each startup;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

To propagate itself, the worm gathers email address from the Yahoo Messenger folder.

The worm mails itself to these addresses using its own SMTP engine.

This worm first appeared on September 25, 2005.
